On 26 February 1941, the Reverend Father Messori Roncaglia, Lt. Chaplain of the Atlantic Base, consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus the submarine Brin. In compliance with the armistice terms the submarine Brin was demolished. During this painful operation was found the sacred image which was delivered to the Commander Longanesi Cattani, former Commander of Brin, who in turn handed it back to Father Messori with this letter:

Beloved,
with the feelings that you con0osci well I'm giving you back the precious image that you donaste our Brin and that has always protected and guided. Tu potrai conservarla insieme ai nostri ricordi, alla nostra emozione, al nostro affetto per te.
An cora grazie con tutto il cuore a nome di noi tutti.
